CrimNet is an electronic
criminal justice information network, which aims
to fulfil the need for a simple means of regular and relaxed
communication between criminal justice professionals and institutions
throughout Australia and internationally.
Important
Notice:
Due
to a new email system being implemented at the Faculty of
Law, University of Sydney, the CrimNet mailing list
moved onto a new server on 21 February 2007.
All
current subscribers will be transferred onto this list.
The
new email to send crimnet messages to is:
law-crimnet@mail.usyd.edu.au
A
message will be sent out to confirm the details of the new
CrimNet list.

The following instructions assume that you have already started
up your own email system and have a basic knowledge of how
to use it. More specific instructions for using your email
system have not been included due to the different types of
software used.
Signing
On:
Go to: http://mailman.ucc.usyd.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/law-crimnet
This is called the mailing list server. It handles various
commands such as subscribing and unsubscribing people to
the list. It also archives all of the CrimNet messages.
Once your subscription
has been approved you will receive a welcome message with
instructions for using CrimNet.
Once you have
received this welcome message, you have become a subscriber
to "CrimNet".

When you wish to distribute a message to the subscribers on
the mailing list, you must send your message to law-crimnet@mail.usyd.edu.au
*Please note that crimnet cannot accept attachments.

Posting
messages
Examples of the categories of information
which may be distributed on the network are:
Research
projects
Seminars, Conferences, Workshops (including upcoming events,
calls for papers)
Education courses
Staff movements
Positions vacant
Institute of Criminology Publications (including books, journals,
seminar proceedings)
General queries on subjects of criminological interest
CrimNet
is a moderated list, and any message which does not relate
directly to criminal justice issues will not be forwarded
on to subscribers.
Please
note: Messages should be around 200 words or less.
Messages that are too lengthy may be edited.
The
messages forwarded to crimnet subscribers will be received
by all subscribers to the list, but won't be mailed
back to you.
