On
the Normative Coherence of Property Offences:
The paper is the beginning of a project, the aim
of which will be to explore the possibility of justifying
and establishing the normative coherence of property
offences, which remain strangely undertheorised.
A tentative conclusion will be that offences against
property should be understood, both descriptively
and normatively, as safeguarding principles of distributive
justice.
Emmanuel studied law in Athens and then obtained
his MSc and PhD at the School of Law, University
of Edinburgh. He taught at the University of Manchester
and Keele University before joining the London School
of Economics in October 2005. His primary research
interests are in Philosophy of Law and Criminal
Law Theory.
