A Place for Juries in Sentencing
A seminar
presented by the Institute of Criminology and the
NSW Law Reform Commission
The
Chief Justice recently invited consideration of a
possible role for juries in sentencing and the NSWLRC
responded with a discussion
paper and suggestions on the form this might take.
In order to contribute to the, debate and consistent
with their prevailing interest in just and accountable
sentencing practice, the Institute of Criminology
and the NSWLRC invite discussion about whether juries
should have influence beyond the verdict.
